Macro-regional disparities in the Unites states of America in 2007-2016

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje identifikaci a zhodnocení sociálních a ekonomických makroregionálních disparit ve Spojených státech amerických v letech 2007-2016. Identifikace a zhodnocení probíhá za pomocí bodové metody, prostřednictvím které jsou vyhodnoceny státy prosperující, zaostávající a průměrné. Výsledkem je, že nejúspěšnějším státem za vybrané indikátory byl v roce 2016 stát New Hampshire, oproti tomu státem, který nejvíce zaostával byl stát Nevada. Prostřednictvím Giniho koeficientu je následně zhodnocen vývoj disparit v období 2007-2016. Práce dochází k závěrům, že disparity se mezi státy za vybrané identifikátory v ekonomické sféře zvyšovaly, opačně tomu bylo ve sféře sociální, ve které se v letech 2007–2016 disparity z celkového pohledu snižovaly. Stanovená hypotéza o zvyšujících se disparitách nebyla potvrzena, ovšem nebyla ani vyvrácena. Z výsledných výpočtů také vzešlo, že disparity byly vyšší v sociální sféře nežli sféře ekonomické.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the identification and evaluation of social and economic macro-regional disparities in the United States of America in 2007-2016. For the identification and the appreciation, the point method is applied, which is used to evaluate prosperous, average and underdeveloped states. As a result, New Hampshire was the most successful state for selected indicators in 2016, while Nevada was the most underdeveloped. By means of Gini coefficient is then evaluated the development of disparities in the period of 2007-2016 years. The thesis concludes that disparities between states for selected identifiers in the economic sphere increased, on the contrary it was in the social sphere, in which disparities in general decreased in 2007–2016. The established hypothesis of increasing disparities was not confirmed, but also it was not refuted. The resulting calculations also showed that disparities were higher in the social sphere than in the economic sphere.
