Teaching profession as a life mission

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je věnována profesi učitele jako životnímu poslání a aspektům, které učitelské povolání doprovází. Teoretická část je rozdělena do šesti kapitol, ve kterých jsou popsány současné i dřívější poznatky z této problematiky. Kapitoly postupně pojednávají o výchově a vzdělávání ve 21. století, o změnách v pojetí profese pedagoga, o sebepojetí učitelů, sebepojetí obecně a faktory, které mohou sebepojetí různými směry ovlivňovat. Pozornost věnuje také postavení mužů a žen v základním školství a případným rozdílům mezi pohlavími. Zmiňuje také pozici žáka ve 21. století a poslední kapitola je krátce věnována sociální pedagogice ve školství. Empirická část je orientována na kvalitativní výzkum a analýzu polostrukturovaných rozhovorů za pomoci interpretativní fenomenologické analýzy (IPA). Ve výpovědích jsou mapovány postoje respondentů vůči sobě v roli učitele, postoje k učitelské profesi celkově a faktory, které ovlivňují jejich profesi po celou délku jejich praxe, přičemž zjištěná fakta budou porovnávána s výzkumem Bohumíry Lazarové a Vladimíra Jůvy. Cílem výzkumu je ověřit faktory označené za komplikující profesi učitele. Dílčím cílem je na základě výpovědí dotazovaných učitelů porovnat vnímané proměny, které ovlivňují jejich profesní kariéru a sebepojetí s výsledky výzkumu Lazarové a Jůvy.

Abstract:

The thesis focuses on the teaching profession as a life mission and the aspects related to the teaching profession. The theoretical part is divided into six chapters describing some of the current and the past findings in this area. The chapters address teaching and education in the 21st century, the changes in the concept of the pedagogical profession, the self-concept of teachers, self-concept in general and factors that can influence it. This part also views the roles of men and women in primary education and possible differences between the genders. The position of the pupil in the 21st century is also mentioned and the last chapter briefly covers social pedagogy in education. The empiric part includes qualitative research and analysis of semi-structured interviews with the help of interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA). The answers are analysed for the attitudes of the interviewees towards themselves in their teaching roles, the attitudes towards the teaching profession as a whole and the factors influencing their occupations throughout their working experience. The findings are compared with the research carried out by Ms Bohumíra Lazarová and Mr Vladimír Jůva. The aim of the research is to verify the factors marked as those complicating the teaching profession. The partial aim, based on the answers of the interviewed teachers, is to compare the perceived changes that influence their professional career and their self-concept with the results of the research by Ms Lazarová and Mr Jůva.
