Human dignity and the ethics of care for patiens

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou lidské důstojnosti a etikou péče o nemocné. V teoretické části jsou charakterizovány pojmy etika, lidská důstojnost a pojmy s nimi související. Také je zde věnována pozornost pojmu celosti člověka a uspokojování potřeb nemocného, se zaměřením na jednotlivé dimenze potřeb pacienta. V práci jsou stručně popsány mezinárodní úmluvy, deklarace a etické kodexy, do kterých je respektování lidské důstojnosti zakotveno. V empirické části jsou prezentovány výsledky průzkumu, zaměřené na názory sester jednotlivých oddělení a jejich znalosti v otázce lidské důstojnosti. Dále je zjišťováno, jak sestry vnímají člověka v jeho vzájemně provázaných dimenzích (fyzické – psychické – sociální – spirituální).

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the problem of human dignity and ethics of care for patients. In the theoretical part some special terms are characterized (ethics, dignity and others in this context). Special attention is paid to the wholeness of man and to the necessity to satisfy the needs of all his individual dimensions. Some important international declarations, conventions and ethical codes emphasizing the obligation to respect the dignity of every human being are briefly described as well. In the empirical part the results of the investigation – devoted to find out opinions and knowledge of nurses (from different departments) in the field of human dignity – are presented. The research was performed also with the aim to study how nurses perceive the patient in his interconnected dimensions (physical – psychical – social – spiritual).
