Abstract:

Cieľom tejto práce je analýza vývoja zobrazovania vojakov japonskej cisárskej armády počas bitky o Iwo Džimu vo filmoch a ustanovenie faktu, či nastal posun v ich zobrazení. Táto práca sa tiež sústredí na vztýčenie vlajky Spojených štátov amerických na Iwo Džime, keďže tento akt má veľký vplyv na americkú spoločnosť. Práca sa zameria na štyri filmy z rôznych časových období (vojnové roky až po súčasnosť), texty ktorých budú analyzované za účelom zmapovania zobrazenia nepriateľa, ktorý bol najprv považovaný za zvera alebo až robota, až kým nedostal ľudskejšiu podobu a na zmenu zobrazenia samotného vztýčenia vlajky.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the development of the representation of Imperial Japanese soldiers during the Battle of Iwo Jima in films and to establish if there has been a change in their depiction over time. The thesis will also focus on the flag raising due to its importance in the U.S.. Four films ranging from the period after the war until the modern era have been selected and will be textually analyzed to map the images of the enemy, who at times was regarded as animalistic or robotic, before giving way to a more humane description, and the raising of the flag.
