Insight into Profession of educator in Penitentiary Facilities

Abstract:

Diplomová práce „Vhled do profese vychovatele v penitenciárním zařízení“ se věnuje profesi vychovatele v penitenciárním zařízení z pohledu samotných vychovatelů. V teoretické části jsou vymezeny základní pojmy, které se bezprostředně vztahují k práci vychovatele v penitenciárním zařízení. V této části je uvedena charakteristika Vězeňské služby České republiky a poskytnuty základní informace o činnosti odborných zaměstnanců, kteří se společně s vychovateli přímo podílejí na reedukaci osob ve výkonu trestu odnětí svobody. Dále je zde ukotvena pracovní náplň vychovatele dle platné legislativní úpravy. Závěrečná kapitola teoretické části se věnuje charakteristice některých vybraných skupin odsouzených. V empirické části je proveden kvalitativní výzkum, jehož cílem je poskytnout vhled do profese vychovatele v penitenciárním zařízení s ohledem na její náročnost, rovněž si klade za cíl zjistit a popsat, jaké strategie využívají vychovatelé ke zvládání takto specificky náročného povolání.

Abstract:

The thesis “Insight into profession of educator in penitentiary facilities” deals with profession of an educator in penitentiary facilities from the point of view of the educators themselves. The theoretical part focuses on definition of basic terms, which are closely related to the profession of an educator in penitentiary facilities. In this part Prison Service of the Czech Republic is characterized and basic information of activities of professional employees who together with the educators take part in re-education of the people with prison sentence is provided. Further, workload of educators according to applicable legislation is described. The final chapter of the theoretical part deals with characteristics of particular groups of the sentenced. The empirical part focuses on qualitative research whose aim is to provide an insight into profession of an educator in penitentiary facilities with regard to its demanding character as well as it strives to determine and describe strategies which are used by the educators to cope with such a demanding profession.
