Content and text analysis of chosen textbooks of chemistry

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá obsahovou a textovou analýzou dvou českých nejpoužívanějších učebnic chemie pro základní školy (2007 a 2013) a také analýzou britské učebnice chemie Chemistry Made Clear (1987). Jejím cílem je tyto učebnice porovnat a v případě českých učebnic (2007 a 2013) určit, která z nich je pro žáky druhého stupně základní školy vhodnější. V případě britské učebnice chemie (1987) je cílem srovnání jejího obsahu s obsahem Rámcového vzdělávacího programu pro základní vzdělávání (2013). Teoretická část bakalářské práce se zabývá obecnou charakteristikou učebnice jako pojmu a jako edukačního prostředku. Dále funkcí učebnic, historií vzniku učebnic, aktuálním stavem výzkumu učebnic a vybraným metodám analýzy obsahu a textu. Praktická část práce se věnuje určení nejpoužívanějších učebnic chemie pro druhý stupeň základní školy. U těchto vybraných učebnic (2007 a 2013) spolu s britskou učebnicí chemie (1987) je v této části práce provedeno měření didaktické vybavenosti textu a určení stupně obtížnosti textu. Výsledné hodnoty jsou v závěru srovnány s doporučenými hodnotami a s výsledky práce Ruska et al. (2016). Posledním bodem praktické části je porovnání britské učebnice chemie (1987) s Rámcovým vzdělávacím programem pro základní vzdělávání (2013).

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with content and text analysis of two frequently used chemistry textbooks for primary schools (2007 and 2013). It also analyzes one chemistry textbook in English language Chemistry Made Clear (1987). The aim of this thesis is to compare selected textbooks. In the case of Czech textbooks (2007 and 2013), the aim is to decide which textbook is better suited for second grade students of primary school. In the case of English textbook (1987), the aim is comparison of this English chemistry textbook (1987) with The General Educational Program for Primary Education (2013). The theoretical part of bachelor thesis contains general characterization of textbook as a concept and as an educational medium. It describes textbook function, the history and formation of textbooks, current state of textbook research and selected methods of content and text analysis. Practical part of this thesis describes the determination of the most frequently used chemistry textbook for second grade of primary school. It also measures didactic properties of text and evaluates the level of text difficulty. In conclusion, obtained values are compared with recommended values and with results of Ruska et al. (2016). The last section of practical part is a comparison of English chemistry textbook (1987) with The General Educational Program for Primary Education (2013).
