The Role of Social Networks in the Communication of the Rock for People Music Festival

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá analýzou stylu textové i vizuální formy komunikace na sociálních sítích Facebook a Instagram hudebního festivalu Rock for People a jejím následným srovnáním s komunikací dvou konkurenčních hudebních festivalů Colours of Ostrava a Metronome Prague. První část práce je věnována teoretickému seznámení s pojmy, které jsou spojeny s tématem festivalu, sociálních sítí, publikem a konkurenčním prostředím. Ve druhé, praktické, části se práce zaměřuje na samotný festival Rock for People, kdy detailněji popisuje jeho historii, standardní průběh a jeho komunikaci na sociálních sítích Facebook a Instagram. Dále je v této části bakalářské práce věnován prostor konkurenčnímu prostředí Rock for people, jeho dvěma konkurenčním festivalům Colours of Ostrava a Metronome Prague a analýze jejich komunikace na sociálních sítích Facebook a Instagram. Tato práce má za cíl provést analýzu a následné srovnání komunikace všech tří zmíněných hudebních festivalů na těchto dvou sociálních sítích a identifikovat, jaká je míra obtížnosti rozpoznat komunikaci festivalu Rock for People od konkurence. Výsledky šetření této páce mohou být dále přínosné pro organizátory festivalu Rock for People a dalších hudebních festivalů jako nástroj pro plánování a případné zlepšení svých budoucích komunikačních aktivit na sociálních sítích.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the analysis of the style of textual and visual forms of communication on the social networks Facebook and Instagram of the Rock for People music festival and its subsequent comparison with the communication of two competing music festivals Colours of Ostrava and Metronome Prague. The first part of the thesis is devoted to the theoretical introduction to the concepts associated with the topic of the festival, social networks, audience and competitive environment. In the second, practical part, the thesis focuses on the Rock for People festival itself, describing in detail its history, standard course and its communication on the social networks Facebook and Instagram. In addition, this part of the thesis focuses on the competitive environment of Rock for People, its two competing festivals Colours of Ostrava and Metronome Prague and the analysis of their communication on Facebook and Instagram. The aim of this thesis is to analyse and then compare the communication of the three mentioned music festivals on these two social networks and to identify the degree of difficulty in recognising the communication of the Rock for People festival from its competitors. Furthermore, the results of this leverage investigation can be beneficial for the organizers of Rock for People and other music festivals as a tool for planning and possibly improving their future communication activities on social media.
