Boris Perusic, biography of the Czechoslovakian volleyball representative

Abstract:

Zasloužilý mistr sportu Ing. Boris Perušič, člen české volejbalové síně slávy, mistr světa, stříbrný olympijský medailista, účastník mistrovství Evropy a mnohonásobný medailista z nejvyšší domácí soutěže, tím vším se může pyšnit tento bývalý vynikající volejbalista. Během své celkem třináct let dlouhé sportovní kariéry zvládl to, co se některým sportovcům nepodaří za celý život či dokonce nikdy. Dohromady posbíral v domácí nejvyšší soutěži deset medailí, z toho dvě zlaté, čtyři stříbrné a čtyři bronzové. Dále má na svém kontě dvě stříbrné medaile z jugoslávské nejvyšší soutěže, stříbrnou a bronzovou z letních univerziád (Bulharsko, Brazílie), bronzovou z Poháru světa (Polsko) a v neposlední řadě samozřejmě stříbrnou z OH v Tokiu (Japonsko) a zlatou z MS v Praze (ČSR). Celkem tedy dosáhl na úctyhodných sedmnáct medailí ze čtrnácti sezón ve vrcholovém volejbalu. Vedle extrémně vydařené sportovní kariéry má Boris Perušič za sebou i velké úspěchy ve sféře profesní. V ČSA se vypracoval z původní pozice referenta až na ředitele několika zahraničních oddělení a během tohoto devatenáctiletého období žil v mnoha zemích po celém světě - od Evropy, přes Blízký a Střední východ až po Asii. Z našich společných sezení jsem si odnesl mnoho informací, ale i cenných myšlenek a rad. Nejvíce mě však ovlivnila tato myšlenka pana Perušiče, kterou mi spontánně řekl na konci vyprávění o MS v Praze: "Nikdy jsem si nic takového neplánoval, prostě jsem jen dělal to, co mne baví, a ono to nějak všechno přišlo."

Abstract:

The merited sportsman, the member of the Czech Volleyball Hall of Fame, the world champion, the Olympic silver medalist, the participant of the European Championships and the multiple medalist of the top of the national competition these all are the titles that an engineer and former excellent volleyball player Boris Perušič can be proud of. During his thirteen-year-long sports career, he managed to achieve the excellent results which some athletes never did. During his sports career, he gathered together ten medals in the national competitions - two goldens, four silver and four bronze. Furthermore, he won two silver medals in the Yugoslav national top competition, silver and bronze in the Summer Universiade (Bulgaria, Brazil) and bronze in the World Cup (Poland), and last but not least the silver in the Olympic Games in Tokyo (Japan) and gold in the World Championships in Prague (Czechoslovakia). In total, he collected an impressive number of seventeen medals during fourteen seasons in professional volleyball. Besides the extremely successful sports career, Boris Perušič had also great achievements in the sphere of his professional life at the Czechoslovak State Airlines. He began his professional life as an officer and finished up as a director of several international branch offices. I have gained not only lots of useful information during our common interviews but also interesting advice. However, the most inspiriting idea of Mr. Perušič was: "I have never planned anything like that, I was just doing what I have enjoyed in my life and everything came spontaneously to me."
