Language Animation as a Pedagogical Tool in the Phase of Introduction when Working with Intercultural Groups Illustrated on an example of Lanterna Futuri Project

Abstract:

Language animation is a creative teaching method that not only develops foreign language knowledge and communication skills, but can also help discover other cultures and handle cultural differences. By means of different definitions the thesis in its theoretical part defines language animation as a teaching method - describes further practice possibilities in different areas of the German- Czech cooperation as well as approaches the history and development of this method. This part also includes the history of the method and its scientific basis based on the result of the “Bielefeld project”, which investigated the communication of the youth at international meetings. In the light of this research three phases of language animation were defined and described in detail. With the help of these findings in its practical part the diploma thesis focuses on the positive impact of language animation on the group dynamics. On the example of German-Czech-Polish “Lanterna Futuri” project it analyses the particular language animation activities and their use in the first phase of group dynamics – introduction.

Abstract:

Jazyková animace je kreativní výuková metoda, která rozvíjí nejen znalosti cizího jazyka a komunikační schopnosti, ale pomáhá objevovat i jiné kultury a zacházet s kulturními odlišnostmi. V teoretické části diplomová práce nejdříve za využití odborných definic vymezuje jazykovou animaci jako výukovou metodu, přibližuje její historii a vznik a popisuje její použití v odlišných oblastech česko-německé spolupráce. Dále se také vrací k jejím vědeckým kořenům a představuje Projekt „Bielefeld“, který zkoumal komunikaci mládeže na mezinárodních setkáních. Na základě provedeného výzkumu byly stanoveny tři fáze jazykové animace, které jsou v diplomové práci také podrobně definovány. S pomocí získaných poznatků se praktická část práce zaměřuje na pozitivní vliv jazykové animace na skupinovou dynamiku. Na příkladu česko-německo-polského projektu „Lanterna Futuri“ analyzuje konkrétní aktivity jazykové animace a jejich využití v první fázi skupinové dynamiky – seznamování.
