Use of Alternative and Augmentative Communication Techniques for Seniors with Dementia in Homes with a Special Regime in the Moravian-Silesian Region

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na využívání technik alternativní a augmentativní komunikace u seniorů s demencí v Moravskoslezském kraji. Cílem diplomové práce je zjistit, zda jsou při komunikaci se seniory s demencí v domovech se zvláštním režimem v Moravskoslezském kraji pracovníky využívány techniky alternativní a augmentativní komunikace. V případě, že jsou techniky využívány, pak jaké a zda jsou pracovníky aplikovány při naplňování individuálních potřeb uživatelů služby. Diplomová práce obsahuje dvě části - teoretickou a empirickou. Teoretická část je věnována alternativní a augmentativní komunikaci a jejich technikám, dále pak seniorům s demencí, způsobu komunikace s nimi a sociální službě domov se zvláštním režimem. Empirická část popisuje teoretická východiska realizovaného kvantitativního výzkumu a zaměřuje se na analýzu a interpretaci získaných dat z dotazníků.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis is focused on the use of alternative and augmentative communication techniques on the seniors with dementia in the Moravian-Silesian region. The objective of the diploma thesis is to find out whether alternative and augmentative communication techniques are used by the employees when communicating with seniors with dementia at the special regime homes in the Moravian-Silesian Region. In case the techniques are used, identify which ones and whether they are applied by the employees to address the individual needs of the service users. The diploma thesis contains two parts - theoretical and empirical one. The theoretical part deals with the alternative and augmentative communication and its corresponding techniques, as well as with the seniors with dementia and the communication methods used with them, and the social service of the special regime homes. The empirical part describes the theoretical solutions based on the conducted quantitative research and focuses on the analysis and interpretation of the data obtained from the questionnaires.
