Abstract:
This bachelor’s thesis explores the history and development of academic disciplines pertaining to China and its associated nomenclature. Based upon in-depth reading of scholarly literature, the thesis provides a brief overview of the history of “Sinology” in Europe, and also a more detailed investigation into the Czech and Slovak “Sinolo-gy“ from the 20th century onwards based on interviews.
