Comparison of the Communist Parties in Central Europe after 1989

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem této bakalářské práce je komparace jednotlivých komunistických stran v zemích Visegrádské čtyřky po revolučním roce 1989. Dále se práce zabývá postavením a úlohou těchto stran v politickém systému jednotlivých zemí po jejich (ne)transformaci. Účelem této práce je zodpovědět otázku, zda se bývalé komunistické strany transformovaly ve strany sociálnědemokratického typu a zda došlo úspěšné etablaci demokracie. Komunistické strany ve střední Evropě, která je v práci pojata jako oblast čtyř zemí, tedy Česka, Maďarska, Polska a Slovenska, zaznamenaly během své existence určitý historický vývoj a změny. Jedny z nejzásadnějších se udály právě na přelomu 80. a 90. let 20. století, tedy v době, kdy tyto země procházely procesem demokratizace. V tomto období některé z těchto stran zanikly či se transformovaly do stran jiných, tzv. nástupnických. Aby byl zřetelný základní rozdíl mezi stranami v období před rokem 1989 a po tomto roce, je nutné v první části práce podat stručný historický vývoj stran od jejich vzniku, tedy od období 20. let. Práce se zabývá jednotlivými komunistickými stranami v konkrétních zemích v určitých obdobích a snaží se, co nezřetelněji, popsat rozdíly, které mezi nimi panovaly, nebo panují. Dále se práce zabývá transformací stran v konkrétních zemích. V této kapitole se objevuje i část, která se věnuje transformaci komunistických stran obecně. Tato část je jakousi teoretickou částí textu. Mimo jiné vymezuje termín transformace vztažený na transformaci politických stran. Ústřední část práce se věnuje vývoji komunistických stran po roce 1989 až po současnost, tomu, jak se komunistické strany v daných zemích včlenily do politického prostředí po pádech nedemokratických systémů. Nakonec je v práci provedena komparace nástupnických komunistických stran po roce 1989 a věnuje se také jejich etablaci v politických systémech konkrétních zemí. Zabývá se také otázkou jejich demokratické konsolidace.

Abstract:

The main target of my bachelor´s work is the comparison of various Communist parties in the countries of the Visegrad´s Four after the year of revolution 1989. Next task of my work is the position and the function of these partiesin the political systém of these countries after their (non) transformation. The purpose is to answer the question of the possible transformation of ex-communist parties into the socialdemocratic parties and of the etablation of democracy. The Communist parties in the Middle of Europe, which is in this work represented by four countries, The Czech Republic, the Hungary, the Poland and Slovenia., noticed during their existence a historical development and some changes. The most scrupulous took place just between seventhies and ninethies in 20th century, so at the time of the process of democratization. In this period some of these parties perished some transformated into other, the so called succesional. To respect the main difference among the parties before and after 1989 I decided in the first part of the work to report the brief historical development after their formation, so in the 20th. I deal with Communist parties in the conrete countries in certain periods and I try as obviously as possible to describe differents among them. Next task of my work is the transformation of the parties in the concrete countries. In this chapter appeared the part about the transformation of the Communist Parties generally. This part is also a teoretical part of the text. Out of other limits the term of transformation of the political parties. The main part deals with the development of Comunist parties from 1989 to nowadays, how the Communist parties have integrated into political systems after the fall of nondemocratic systems. In the end I compared the succesional Comunist parties after 1989 and I dealed with their etablation in the mentioned countries. I resolve also the question of democratic consolidation.
