The Relationship between Spirituality and Cooping among Future Humanities Teachers

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je analýza vztahu spirituality a zvládacích strategií u budoucích učitelů humanitních oborů. Dalším cílem je porovnat rozdíly mezi muži a ženami a mezi skupinami osob rozdělených dle jejich náboženské příslušnosti (křesťané, duchovně založení jedinci a ateisté). Teoretická část je věnována ukotvení obou konstruktů a nástinu jejich vzájemného vztahu u sledovaného souboru. Empirická část představuje provedené kvantitativní šetření. Výzkumu se zúčastnilo 93 studentů učitelství humanitních oborů. Dotazníková baterie sestávala ze dvou metod - sebehodnotící škály Spirituální inteligence (SISRI-24) a dotazníku Strategie zvládání stresu (SVF-78). Výsledky poukázaly na některé vztahy mezi spirituální inteligencí a zvládacími strategiemi. V míře spirituální inteligence byly zjištěny rozdíly mezi muži a ženami i mezi věřícími, duchovně založenými lidmi a ateisty. Potvrzeny byly rozdíly ve volbě zvládacích strategií u proměnné pohlaví. Rozdíly zvládacích strategií nebyly zjištěny u věřících a nevěřících.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis was to analyze the relationship between spirituality and coping among future humanities teachers. Also to compare the differences between men and women and between people divided into the groups according their religious affiliation (Christians, spiritualy based people and atheists). The theoretical part is devoted to present both of the construct and outlining their relationship to the sample. The empirical part includes a quantitative survey. In the research sample there are 93 students of humanities teaching. The questionnaire battery consisted of two methods - the Spiritual Intelligence Self-Assessment Inventory (SISRI-24) and the Coping Strategies Questionnaire (SVF-78). The results pointed to some relationships between spiritual intelligence and coping strategies. In terms of spiritual intelligence were found differences between men and women as well as between believers, spiritually based people and atheists. In the choice of coping strategies were confirmed differences for gender variables. No differences in coping strategies were found between believers and non-believers.
