The use of music therapy to improve motor skills of children with mental disability

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou muzikoterapie a mentálního postižení u dětí. Jejím hlavním cílem je zjištění vlivu muzikoterapie pro zlepšení motoriky u dětí s mentálním postižením. Práce je rozdělená na část teoretickou a praktickou. Teoretická část se v první kapitole věnuje muzikoterapii, zabývá se její historií, formami, strukturou muzikoterapeutické jednotky, hudebními prostředky a spojením muzikoterapie a mentálního postižení. Druhá kapitola se zabývá motorikou ? jemnou i hrubou. Třetí kapitola popisuje mentální postižení (retardaci) a její klasifikaci. Čtvrtá kapitola se věnuje kombinovanému postižení, které je s mentálním postižením často spjato. Poslední kapitola se zabývá popisem vybraného standardizovaného testu (TMF). Praktická část zahrnuje informace o účastnících výzkumu a metodiky testování. Taktéž obsahuje informace o průběhu muzikoterapeutických jednotek a jsou zde uvedeny výsledky, které jsou následně rozebrány a vyhodnoceny v diskuzi. Měření u dětí probíhalo celkem dvakrát. První měření proběhlo před začátkem docházení na muzikoterapii. Druhé měření bylo provedeno po šestitýdenním docházení na muzikoterapii s frekvencí dvakrát týdně. Změřené výsledky byly porovnány, graficky vyjádřeny a následně shrnuty v diskuzi.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the problems of music therapy and mental disability in children. The main aim of the thesis is to determine the influence of music therapy to improve motor skills in children with mental disability. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and the practical part. In the first chapter there is the theoretical part related to music therapy, its history, forms, structure of music therapy unit, musical instruments and connection between music therapy and mental disability. The second chapter deals with motor skills ? fine and gross. The third chapter describes mental disability (retardation) and its classification. The fourth part is devoted to combined disabilities, which are frequently connected to mental disability. The last chapter deals with description of selected standardized test (TMF). Practical part includes information about participants of the research and testing methodology. It also contains information about process of the music therapy units and there are displayed results, which are subsequently analysed and evaluated in the discussion. Measurement was carried out twice. The first measurement was made before attending to the music therapy. The second measurement was made after six-week music therapy attendance with the frequency of two times per week. Measured results were compared, graphically expressed and then summarized in the discussion.
