Pain therapy of post-surgical patients in intensive care

Abstract:

Cíl: Hlavním cílem této vysokoškolské práce bylo zjistit spokojenost pacientů s nastavením terapie bolesti. Současně byly stanoveny dílčí cíle, které měly zjistit, jestli byl pacient informován o možnostech léčby pooperační bolesti, jestli zdravotnický personál využil stupnice VAS při hodnocení pooperační bolesti pacienta, jestli byla terapie pooperační bolesti dostatečná a co by pacienti udělali jinak v rámci poskytnuté terapie pooperační bolesti. Metodika: Sběr dat proběhl v termínu od února do dubna 2022 formou dotazníkového šetření pomocí nestandardizovaného dotazníku. Dotazníky byly rozdány na dílčích jednotkách anesteziologie, resuscitace a intenzivní medicíny, kde byly následně rozdány první pooperační den mezi respondenty po operačním výkonu v hrudní oblasti. Respondenti dotazníky vyplňovali samostatně, po předchozím předání pokynů k vyplnění. Zároveň s dotazníky byl podle zdravotnické dokumentace respondenta vyplňován i záznamový arch, ve kterém byly zaznamenány demografické údaje, název prodělaného operačního výkonu a počet prodělaných výkonů v minulosti. Celý soubor čítal celkem 60 respondentů. Výsledky: Z dotazníkového šetření vyplývá, že naprostá většina pacientů, bává před operačním výkonem edukovaná o možnostech léčby pooperační bolesti. Pro zhodnocení pacientovy bolesti je ošetřujícím personálem nejčastěji využíváno škály VAS. Ve většině případů byla pooperační bolest pacientů potlačena alespoň částečně. Respondenti by dále ocenili lepší preemptivní analgezii a lepší edukaci o možnostech léčby pooperační bolesti. Závěr: Spokojenost respondentů s nastavenou terapií bolesti byla vysoká. Naprostá většina respondentů by na terapii nic neměnila. Cíle práce byly splněny

Abstract:

Aim: The main aim of this bachelor thesis was to determine the satisfaction of patients with the settings of pain therapy. At the same time, sub-goals were set to determine whether the patient was informed about postoperative pain treatment options, whether the healthcare professional used the VAS scale to assess the patient's postoperative pain, whether postoperative pain therapy was sufficient and what patients would do differently in the provided postoperative pain therapy. Methodology: Data collection took place in the period from February to April 2022 in the form of a questionnaire survey using a non-standardized questionnaire. Questionnaires were distributed in the sub-units of anesthesiology, resuscitation and intensive care, where they were subsequently distributed on the first postoperative day among the respondents after thoracic surgery. Respondents filled in the questionnaires separately, after previously given instructions for completion. According to the respondent's medical documentation, a record sheet was filled in together with the questionnaires, in which were filled demographic data, the name of the surgery performed and the number of operations performed in the past. The whole group counted a total of 60 respondents. Results: The questionnaire survey shows that the vast majority of patients are afraid before the operation educated about the treatment of postoperative pain. The VAS scale is most often used by the nursing staff to assess the patient's pain. In most cases, the patient's postoperative pain was at least partially suppressed. Respondents would also appreciate better preemptive analgesia and better education about postoperative pain treatment options. Conclusion: Respondents' satisfaction with the set pain therapy was high. The vast majority of respondents would not change anything about therapy. The goals of the thesis were met.
