Determination of primary aromatic amines in selected samples of dyes and fabric

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá stanovením primárních aromatických aminů (PAA) ve vybraných azobarvivech a v textilních materiálech pomocí vysokoúčinné kapalinové chromatografie (HPLC) se spektrofotometrickou detekcí v UV/VIS oblasti. Práce poskytuje základní informace o společnosti Synthesia a.s., kde byly uskutečněny samotné analýzy. Součástí teoretické části je stručný popis výroby azobarviv (diazotace a kopulace). Dále byla prostudována dostupná literatura týkající se základního rozdělení barviv, přičemž největší pozornost byla věnována skupinám přímých a kyselých azobarviv, a to konkrétně jejich vlastnostem, chemické struktuře, využití a způsobům barvení. Zmíněny jsou i způsoby barvení textilních materiálů, charakteristika a legislativa PAA. V neposlední řadě je popsána použitá instrumentace pro HPLC analýzu a alternativy stanovení PAA. Experimentální část je založena na stanovení obsahu jednotlivých PAA ve vybraných azobarvivech a textilu obarveném azobarvivy pomocí HPLC s UV/VIS detekcí za využití gradientové eluce. Získané výsledky jsou diskutovány a porovnány s příslušnou legislativou.

Abstract:

This master thesis deals with determination of primary aromatic amines (PAA) in selected azo dyes and in textile materials by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with spectrophotometric detection in UV/VIS region. The thesis provides basic information about the company Synthesia a.s., where the analyzes were realized. The theoretical part includes a brief description of the production of azo dyes (diazotation and copulation). The available literature on the basic dye distribution has also been studied and the greatest attention was focused on the groups of direct and acidic azo dyes, especially their properties, chemical structure, use and methods of dyeing. Methods of dyeing textile materials, characteristics and PAA legislation are also mentioned. Last but not least, there is a description of the used instrumentation for HPLC analysis and alternatives of PAA determination. The experimental part is based on the determination of the content of individual PAAs in selected azo dyes and textiles dyed with azo dyes by HPLC with UV/VIS detection using gradient elution. The acquired results are discussed and compared with the relevant legislation.
