A group therapeutic-educational programs for siblings of children with autism spectrum disorders

Abstract:

Předmětem diplomové práce bylo prostřednictvím dotazníkového šetření zjistit, zda rodiče sourozenců dětí s poruchami autistického spektra (PAS) vědí o existenci skupinových terapeuticko-edukačních programů pro sourozence dětí s PAS, zda je po takovémto typu programů v naší zemi poptávka a také jakou podobu programu (z hlediska organizace a obsahu) by rodiče případně poptávali. Teoretická část nastiňuje problematiku poruch autistického spektra, rodiny dítěte s PAS (s důrazem na sourozence) a skupinových terapeuticko-edukačních programů pro sourozence dětí s PAS. V praktické části jsou uvedeny metodika, výsledky a zhodnocení provedené pilotní studie. Rozbor výpovědí 86 respondentů ukázal, že rodiče sourozenců dětí s PAS mají o zavedení programů tohoto typu výrazný zájem, obecně o nich mají pozitivní mínění a věří v jejich účinnost. Výzkum přinesl řadu informací o očekáváních a specifických potřebách rodin spojených jak s organizační, tak s obsahovou složkou daných programů. Získané údaje mohou posloužit jako podklad a inspirace pro tvorbu tohoto programu v praxi české speciální pedagogiky.

Abstract:

The aim of this diploma thesis was to determine, via a questionnaire survey, whether parents of siblings of children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) have any awareness about the existence of group therapeutic-educational programs, if there is any demand in our country for such type of programs, and what form of program (in terms of its organization and content) would parents eventually demand. The theoretical part briefly describes topics such as ASD, family of child with an ASD (with a special emphasis on siblings), and group therapeutic-educational programs for siblings of children with ASD. In the research part methodology, results and evaluation of the pilot study are presented. Analysis of statements from 86 responders indicated that parents of siblings of children with ASD would appreciate the implementation of such program into practise. In general, they believe in efficacy of such kind of activities and have positive opinion in relation to the programs. Research have provided a range of information about families´ expectations and specific needs connected with both – organizational and content component of programs. The information obtained may provide a suitable basis and inspiration for creating this program in Czech special-education practise.
