Gamification in management education

Abstract:

Tato práce se zaměřuje na problematiku gamifikace a navrhuje možnost implementace gamifikačních prvků do výuky předmětu 3MA103 Principy managementu na Vysoké škole ekonomické v Praze. Práce vychází ze zpracované rešerše. V teoretické části je uvedena formální definice problematiky, je probrán i častý chybný pohled na gamifikaci a představuje koncept Octalysis. Praktická část testuje tento koncept a na základě kladných výsledků navrhuje implementaci konkrétních prvků do výuky. To je následně diskutováno s vyučujícími tohoto předmětu. Výsledkem je jednak návrh, jednak komentáře vyučujících a nápady na zlepšení. Do budoucna je plánováno ověření vhodnosti implementace a výzkum, který by potvrdil efektivitu použití těchto prvků pro zapojení studentů.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the topic of gamification and proposes the possibility of implementation of gamification elements in the course 3MA103 Principles of Management at the University of Economics in Prague. The thesis is based on a processed research. In the theoretical part is presented the formal definition of the topic, the frequent erroneous understanding of gamification is discussed and there is also introduced the Octalysis framework. The practical part tests this concept and as the results was positive, it proposes the implementation of specific gamification elements in the course. This is subsequently discussed with the teachers of this subject. The result is both suggestion and teacher's comments and ideas for improvement. In the future, it is planned to verify the suitability of the implementation and research to verify the effectiveness of these elements for engaging students.
