Motivation of social workers in work with mentally ill clients

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřena na motivační zdroje sociálních pracovníků při práci s klienty s duševním onemocněním. Cílem práce je zjistit, jaké jsou zdroje motivace sociálních pracovníků při práci s klienty s duševním onemocněním. Bakalářská práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a část výzkumnou. Teoretická část je zaměřena na sociální práci, klienty v sociální práci, hodnoty v sociální práci a motivaci. Dále se teoretická část věnuje demotivačním prvkům, jako je syndrom vyhoření nebo syndrom pomáhajícího, a obsahuje i nástroje pomoci. Závěr teoretické části je zaměřen na duševní onemocnění. Cílem výzkumné části práce je zjistit, jaké jsou zdroje motivace sociálních pracovníků při práci s klienty s duševním onemocněním. Pro zjištění a naplnění cíle práce je zvolena kvalitativní výzkumná strategie a pro sběr dat je zvolen polostrukturovaný rozhovor. Rozhovory jsou uskutečněny se sociálními pracovníky, kteří pracují s duševně nemocnými klienty. Získaná data jsou analyzována pomocí otevřeného kódování a následné kódy jsou seskupené do příslušných kategorií. Na závěr výzkumné části práce jsou interpretovány odpovědi na hlavní výzkumnou otázku a dílčí výzkumné otázky. Poslední kapitola také obsahuje shrnutí výsledků kvalitativního výzkumu.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is focused on the sources of motivation of social workers when working with clients with mental illness. The aim of the thesis is to identify the sources of motivation of social workers when working with clients with mental illness. The bachelor thesis is divided into a theoretical part and a research part. The theoretical part focuses on social work, clients in social work, values in social work, and motivation. Furthermore, the theoretical part addresses demotivating factors such as burnout syndrome or helper syndrome and also includes tools for assistance. The conclusion of the theoretical part is focused on mental illness. The research part of the thesis aims to identify the sources of motivation of social workers when working with clients with mental illness. Qualitative research is conducted to achieve the goal of the thesis, and semi-structured interviews are chosen for data collection. Interviews are conducted with social workers who work with mentally ill clients. The collected data are analysed using open coding, and the codes are then grouped into relevant categories. At the end of the research part of the thesis, the responses to the main research question and sub-research questions are interpreted. The last chapter also includes a summary of the results of the qualitative research.
