Possibilities of audio-visual stimulation in children with attention deficit (hyperactivity) disorder

Abstract:

ABSTRAKT Porucha koncentrace pozornosti a problémy se schopností relaxace jsou jedny z hlavních symptomů, které dětí s hyperkinetickou poruchou či specifickou poruchou učení ovlivňují nejen ve školním výkonu, ale i v běžné komunikaci. Při péči o takové děti je důležitý multidisciplinární terapeutický přístup. Fyzioterapeut může v rámci terapie doporučit vhodná pohybová a relaxační cvičení. Jednou z alternativ relaxačních metod je přístrojová technika audiovizuální stimulace, kterou řadíme do oblasti fototerapie nepolarizovaným zářením. Cílem mého měření bylo zjistit, zda u dětí s poruchou koncentrace pozornosti je možné sledovat signifikantní rozdíl ve výsledcích pozornostního testu d2 před a bezprostředně po jednorázovém užití programu audiovizuální stimulace. Získané výsledky byly statisticky zpracovány a porovnány s výzkumy autorů, kteří se touto problematikou rovněž zabývali. Tato práce se sestává z 6 kapitol. Úvodní dvě kapitoly shrnují teoretická východiska týkající se audiovizuální stimulace a možností jejího využití při deficitu pozornosti u dětí mladšího školního věku. Výzkumná část obsahuje metodologii výzkumu, statistickou analýzu dat, interpretaci výsledků, diskusi a závěr. Na základě statistického zpracování naměřených dat v programu Microsoft Excel a Stata byly všechny definované hypotézy zamítnuty na 5% hladině signifikance, a tedy nebyl zjištěn statisticky významný rozdíl ve výsledcích pozornostního testu d2 před a bezprostředně po užití programu audiovizuální stimulace. Na základě odborných článků jiných autorů, kteří sledovali účinky audiovizuální stimulace na kognitivní funkce při jejím dlouhodobém užívání, však lze doporučit pravidelné užívání tohoto programu jako vhodné doplňkové přístrojové techniky pro navození stavu relaxace a zlepšení koncentrace pozornosti.

Abstract:

ABSTRACT Concentration problems and problems with an inability how to relax are some of the main symptoms which children with hyperkinetic disorder or learning disabilities limit not only at school but in a usual communication also. When taking care of these children, a multidisciplinary care is necessary and important. A physiotherapist can recommend a suitable kind of motional and relaxing exercise within a therapy. One of the options of relaxing methods is an instrumental audiovisual stimulation which we consider as a phototherapy by unpolarized radiation. The aim of my measuring was to find out if there was possible to observe any significant differences on the D2 test before and after a one-shot application of the audiovisual stimulation in ADHD children. The results we got were statistically processed and compared with researches of authors who were also dealing with this issue. This work consists of six chapters. The introductory two chapters summer up some theoretical starting points regarding audiovisual stimulation and ussage of that in ADHD preschool children. The part of research consists of a methodology, a statistic analysis of data, an interpretation of the results, a discussion and a conclusion. Based on statistic processing of the measured data in Microsoft Excel and Stata all the defined hypothesis were rejected on 5 % of significance, so that there was not found out any significant difference before and after the application of the audiovisual stimulating program on the D2 test. Although other authors who observed how the audiovisual stimulation influences cognitive functions during a long time application, there is possible to recommend a regular application of the audiovisual stimulating program as a good way of helping these children relax and improve their attention.
