Teorie překladu není exaktní věda. Jednotlivé překlady mohou mít různé výsledky v závislosti na překládaném díle a překladateli. I tentýž překladatel může dojít k jiným závěrům, pakliže se změní kontext. Různí překladatelé dospějí k různým překladům, které budou všechny správně interpretovány a přloženy.
