Abstract:

The thesis addresses the basic concepts of education with the detailed study of traditional and modern teaching methods. The author tries to define the concept of a teaching method and allocate its proper place within the educational system. It is proposed that a choice and the manner of use of teaching methods are determined by various factors. The author attempts to classify teaching methods into the two basic categories: traditional and modern teaching methods. The crucial part of the thesis is the analysis and comparison of the two types of teaching methods. Their advantages and disadvantages are discussed and, eventually, the author proposes a few general conclusions based on the discussion.
