Analysis of Czech Television and BBC communication on social networks

Abstract:

Bakalářská diplomová práce se věnuje analýze komunikace České televize a BBC na online sociálních sítích, na příkladu jejich zpravodajských televizních stanic ČT24 a BBC News. Teoretická část práce definuje marketingovou komunikaci na sociálních sítích a jednotlivé kroky, které jsou důležité při tvorbě její strategie. Představuje také mediální instituce, Českou televizi a britskou televizi BBC, pod které analyzované zpravodajské účty spadají. Dále se zaměřuje na definici sociálních sítí, trendy v komunikaci na sociálních sítích a jejich využívání médii a novináři. Součástí teoretické části je také definice etického kodexu, který by média měla při své činnosti dodržovat. Praktická část analyzuje zpravodajské profily ČT24 a BBC News na sociálních sítích Instagram, Facebook a Twitter a pomocí SWOT analýzy hodnotí silné a slabé stránky, příležitosti a hrozby jejich komunikace na sociálních sítích. Zaměřuje se také na odlišnosti ve strategii komunikace jednotlivých institucí. Cílem bakalářské práce je analýza komunikace obou mediálních institucí na jednotlivých sociálních sítích, určení jejich silný a slabých stránek, příležitostí a hrozeb a porovnání komunikace mezi oběma médii.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis examines the analysis of the marketing communication of Czech Television and BBC on online social networks, using their news television stations ČT24 and BBC News. This analysis will focus on the ČT24 and BBC News social networks profiles of the two institutions' news television programs. The theoretical part defines marketing communication on social networks and the different steps that are important in developing its strategy. It also introduces the media institutions, Czech Television and the British BBC, that the analyzed news social networks profiles are associated with. Furthermore, the thesis defines online social networks and the differences in their use by people, media, and journalists. Additionally, it includes a definition of the code of ethics that the media should follow in their activities. The practical section analyses the profiles of ČT24 and BBC News on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter and uses SWOT analysis to evaluate strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of their communication on social networks. It also focuses on the differences in the communication strategy of each media institution. The purpose of the bachelor's thesis is to analyze the communication of both media institutions on each social networks, identify their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats and compare the communication between them.
