Asset Securitization as a Method of Bank Credit Risk Reduction

Abstract:

Diplomová práce „Sekuritizace aktiv jako metoda snížení kreditního rizika bank“ čtenáře postupně provází čtyřmi hlavními kapitolami práce. První část je zaměřena na kreditní riziko, jeho definici, charakteristiku související regulace a analýzu možností jeho snížení, z nichž jednou je právě využití procesu sekuritizace. Té se podrobně věnuje kapitola druhá, ve které se čtenář blíže seznamuje s celým procesem od původního výběru podkladových aktiv až po konečnou emisi cenných papírů v jednotlivých tranších. Kapitola dále popisuje roli jednotlivých účastníků procesu s důrazem na účelové finanční společnosti a ratingové agentury, jež sehrály velmi významnou roli v rámci globální finanční krize z roku 2007/2008, které se věnuje navazující část práce. Práce se zaměřuje na analýzu českého trhu v této oblasti a na základě jejích výsledků vysvětluje, z jakého důvodu není sekuritizace na našem území velmi využívaným nástrojem, a posuzuje, zda je český trh pro tento instrument právně a ekonomicky uzpůsoben. Tomu se věnuje poslední kapitola diplomové práce s názvem Sekuritizace v současnosti.

Abstract:

The thesis „Asset Securitization as a Method of Bank Credit Risk Reduction“ has four chapters. First part is focused on credit risk, its definition, the related regulation characteristics, and the analysis of options to reduce this risk, one of which is the use of securitization process. Securitization is discussed in chapter two in detail, in which the reader acquaints himself with the whole process from the original selection of the underlying assets to the final issue of the securities within individual tranches. The chapter further focuses on the role of individual participants of the process, with emphasis on SPV entities and rating agencies. These had very important role in the global financial crisis in 2007/2008, which is described in the following part. The thesis is focused on analysis of the Czech market area and it explains why the securitization process is not a very used tool. It assesses whether the Czech market is legally and economically suitable for this instrument. This is described in the last chapter entitled Securitization at Present.
