Bridging the gender digital divide in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je určit způsoby, jakými lze zužovat genderovou digitální propast v České republice. Teoretická část zahrnuje vymezení pojmu genderové digitální propasti a pojmů bezprostředně s ní souvisejících, identifikaci a klasifikaci možných příčin genderové digitální propasti a analýzu situace v České republice a její komparaci s ostatními zeměmi EU v kontextu genderové digitální propasti. Empirická část se zabývá rešerší strategií vhodných pro implementaci intervencí pro zužování genderové digitální propasti a kategorizací primárních a sekundárních intervencí dostupných v České republice. Dále je provedena analýza efektivity vybraných intervencí a faktorů, které ji ovlivňují. Závěrem diplomové práce jsou na základě syntézy teoretických a empirických poznatků stanovena doporučení pro čtyři cílové skupiny, a to (1) ženy a dívky, (2) školy a vzdělávací instituce, (3) firmy a (4) vládu.

Abstract:

The thesis aims to identify ways to bridge the gender digital divide in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part includes the definition of the concept of the gender digital divide and the terms immediately related to it; the identification and classification of possible causes of the gender digital divide; and an analysis of the situation in the Czech Republic and comparison with other EU countries in the context of the gender digital divide. The empirical part contains the research of strategies suitable for the implementation of interventions for bridging the gender digital divide and the categorization of primary and secondary interventions available in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, an analysis of the effectiveness of selected interventions and the factors influencing them is conducted. Finally, the thesis concludes with recommendations based on a synthesis of theoretical and empirical findings for four target groups, namely (1) women and girls, (2) schools and educational institutions, (3) companies, and (4) government.
