Adolphe Sax: Life, work and heritage in terms of saxophone instruments

Abstract:

Ve své bakalářské práci jsem si dal za úkol zmapovat život Adolpha Saxe, vynálezce saxofonu. Krátce se dotýkám Saxova mládí i rodiny, dále uvádím rozsáhlý a detailní životopis, který zasazuji do historických souvislostí. Popisuji jeho četné vzestupy i pády, účast na světových výstavách a konečně i vynálezy, především saxofon. V poslední kapitole se stručně zmiňuji o Václavu Františku Červeném a pokouším se potvrdit či vyvrátit teorii jeho pravnučky, zpěvačky Soni Červené, že saxofon vynalezl on, nikoliv Sax. Během psaní práce jsem odhalil historické, rodinné, ale i nástrojové nejasnosti či chyby a tyto uvedl na pravou míru.

Abstract:

In my bachelor thesis I set out to map the life of Adolph Sax, the inventor of the saxophone. I briefly touch Sax's youth and family, I present an extensive and detailed curriculum vitae, which I have put in its historical context. I describe his numerous ups and downs, his participation in world exhibitions and, of course, his inventions, especially the saxophone. In the last chapter I briefly mention Václav František Červený and try to confirm or refute the theory of his great-granddaughter, singer Soňa Červená, that the saxophone was invented by him, not by Sax. During the writing of the thesis, I revealed historical, family, but also instrumental ambiguities or mistakes and corrected them.
