The influence of the hippie generation on the american and global culture

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje historii hnutí hippies, jeho představitelům a významným událostem a vlivu hnutí na tehdejší i současnou kulturu. První část práce obeznamuje se vznikem kontrakultury hippies, faktory, formujícími povahu hnutí a politickými i sociálními aktivitami hnutí. Druhá část práce se zabývá důležitými osobnostmi hnutí z oblasti hudby a filozofie, dvěma významnými hudebními festivaly a jedním shromážděním. Druhá část také popisuje důvody úpadku hnutí. Třetí část se zabývá vlivem hnutí na kulturu jak v šedesátých letech, tak v současnosti a představuje následovníky hippies.

Abstract:

This thesis concerns itself with the history of the hippie movement, its representatives and important milestones as well as the influence on contemporary culture. The first part sheds light on the conception of the hippie culture, as much as factors and the general mood of the movement and the political and social activities of its members. The second part deals with influential celebrities who were engaged in the music industry and with philosophy; two world famous music festivals and one gathering. The second part also describes the decline of the movement. The final part copes with the influence of the movement on culture of the 60's as well as today and introduces successors of hippies.
