Rewards and punishments in education of pupils at primary school

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na problematiku využití odměn a trestů ve výuce na 1. stupni ZŠ. Cílem práce je zjistit, jaké zkušenosti mají učitelé a jejich žáci s využitím odměn a trestů ve výuce. Teoretická část se zabývá odměnami, tresty, školní motivací a školní kázní. Účelem výzkumné části je zjistit, jaké zkušenosti mají učitelé a žáci s využitím odměn a trestů ve výuce. Na základě těchto cílů byly stanoveny vedlejší výzkumné otázky, kterými bylo zjištěno, s jakými odměnami a tresty mají učitelé a žáci zkušenost, jaký je jejich názor na využití odměn a trestů a v jakých situacích se s odměnami a tresty setkávají. Provedená případová studie dvou tříd 4. ročníku základní školy ke sběru dat využila metody hloubkového rozhovoru, skupinových rozhovorů a dotazníku. Analýzou a interpretací získaných dat bylo zjištěno, že učitelé i žáci mají zkušenosti s širokou škálou odměn a trestů v kontextu různorodých situacích napříč školním prostředím. Výsledky taktéž poukázaly na odlišné postoje a názory žáků i učitelů k těmto pedagogickým strategiím. Tato práce poukazuje na význam odměn a trestů v současné škole 21. století a nabízí nové pohledy na tuto problematiku.

Abstract:

The thesis focuses on the issue of the use of rewards and punishments in teaching at primary school. The aim of the thesis is to find out what experiences teachers and their pupils have with the use of rewards and punishments in teaching. The theoretical part deals with rewards, punishments, school motivation and school discipline. The purpose of the research part is to find out what experiences teachers and their pupils have with the use of rewards and punishments in teaching. Based on these objectives, secondary research questions were set to find out what rewards and punishments teachers and pupils have experience with, what their views are on the use of rewards and punishments and in what situations they encounter rewards and punishments. A case study of two fourth grade primary school classes was conducted using in-depth interview, group interview and questionnaire methods to collect data. Through analysis and interpretation of the data collected, it was found that teachers and pupils experience a wide range of rewards and punishments in the context of diverse situations across the school environment. The results also highlighted the different attitudes and opinions of pupils and teachers towards these pedagogical strategies. This thesis highlights the importance of rewards and punishments in the contemporary 21st century school and offers new perspectives on this issue.
