Incoming tourism from the United States of America to the Czech Republic and specifics of American Tourists

Abstract:

Diplomová práce přináší analýzu příjezdového cestovního ruchu ze Spojených států amerických do České republiky. Záměrem je postihnout jeho dosavadní vývoj a analyzovat současný stav z různých aspektů. Nedílnou součástí je analýza chování amerických turistů. Text definuje základní pojmy z oblasti cestovního ruchu, jako například: cestovní ruch, účastník cestovního ruchu, typologie cestovního ruchu. Práce také pojednává o roli turismu v národní ekonomice. Dále text zpracovává statistické údaje týkající se příjezdů, přenocování a výdajů amerických návštěvníků v Evropě a v ČR. Zároveň je analyzována nabídka zájezdů z USA do ČR. Součástí práce je též shrnutí prezentace ČR na zdrojovém trhu a aktivity agentury CzechTourism v USA. Studie navrhuje možná opatření, která by mohla zvýšit počty návštěv a prodloužení pobytu Američanů v České republice.

Abstract:

This Master´s Thesis deals with incoming tourism from the United States of America to the Czech Republic and specifics of American tourists. The aim is to analyze the devoplment and the current state of the incoming tourism from the US to the CZ, as well as to analyze behaviour of American tourists. The theoretical part defines important terms from the field of tourism, such as tourism, tourist or tourism typology. Also, the importance of tourism for national economy is explained. Next, the practical part analyzes the statistical data about the number of arrivals, overnight stays and about expenses of the American tourists in Europe and in the Czech Republic. Morover, the tour packages from the US to the CZ are examined. In addition, the promotion of the Czech Republic on the American market is described. The thesis suggests possible steps which can be taken in order to increase the number of visitors from the US and to extend their stay in the Czech Republic.
