Connections between positivity, stress, creativity and using of corporal punishment at raising children

Abstract:

Tato práce zkoumá dynamiku vzniku fyzických trestů skrze emocionální nastavení rodičů, kreativitu, jejich schopnosti zvládat zátěž a tendence k agresi. Teorie B. Fredrickson (1998) uvádí, že pozitivní emoce rozšiřují kognici a záběr pozornosti, a tím otevírají prostor kreativitě. Garland et al.(2010) uvádí, že pozitivní emoce poskytují lepší možnost zvládat stres. Stres spouští v těle geneticky naprogramovanou stresovou reakci, která aktivuje tělo k útěku nebo útoku. Rodičovství je zátěžová situace. Stres a agrese se vzájemně podmiňují. Výzkumný soubor byl tvořen 85 rodiči dětí předškolního věku. K měření pozitivity jsme použili škálu PANAS, k měření kreativity Torranceho figurální test tvořivého myšlení. Pro zjištění dispozičního optimismu, self-efficacy a locus of control jsme použili testy LOT-R, GSES a škálu I-E. Dále jsme použili Inventář agrese Busse a Durkeeové. Zjistili jsme, že pozitivně ladění rodiče lépe zvládají zátěž. A regresní analýza potvrdila, že z hodnot pozitivity lze předpovídat hodnoty locus of control, self-efficacy a dispozičního optimismu. Dále jsme zjistili, že pozitivnější rodiče jsou kreativnější než rodiče negativní, a to v oblasti originality. Ukázalo se, že rodiče, kteří hůře zvládají zátěž, jsou iritabilnější a více resentimentální. Porovnání pozitivity s agresí ukázalo, že čím stoupá pozitivita, tím klesá tendence k přímé agresi a nepřímé agresi, iritabilita, resentiment a tendence obviňovat se.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with genesis of corporal punishment through parents‘ emotional setting, their creativity, coping with stress and tendency to aggression. B. Fredrickson (1998) states positive emotions broaden cognition and the scope of people‘s attention and that is how positive emotions open space for creativity. Garland et al. (2010) posit positive emotions help us to cope stress situation. Stress situation generates stress. Stress iniciates genetically programmed stress reaction in our body, that is how we are prepared for „flight or fight“ reaction. Parenting is stress. The sample included 85 parents of preschool children. We used PANAS scale for measuring of positivity, Torrance tests of creative thinking for measuring of creativity. To find out a level of dispositional optimism, self-efficacy and locus of control we used LOT-R, GSE, I-E scale. For measuring of tendency to aggression we used Buss and Durkee Inventory. Then we compared all variables each other and found a lot of correlations. Parents with higher positivity ratio better cope stress. Simple linear regression analysis confirmed, that values of locus of control, self-efficacy and dispositional optimism can be predicted by values of positivity. Parents with higher positivity are more creative in category of originality than parents with lower positivity. Parents worse in coping stress are more irritable and more resentmental. Correlation between positivity and aggression revealed that with higher positivity descent values of assault, indirect hostility, irritability, resentment and guilt.
