Motivation in Primary English Language Teaching

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá motivací ve výuce anglického jazyka na prvním stupni základní školy. V teoretické části se věnuji pedagogicko-psychologické koncepci motivace a dalším pojmům souvisejících s touto problematikou, jako jsou například pojmy potřeba či odměna. Následně je pozornost věnována samotnému anglickému jazyku, kde popisuji jednotlivé faktory mající vliv na motivaci dítěte ve výuce, což propojuje jednotlivé pasáže v této práci. Těmi faktory jsou např. osobnost učitele a žák. Práce se snaží odhalit, jak lze motivaci u žáků poznat a zároveň nabízí teoretické prostředky k jejímu cílenému dosažení. V praktické části pak popisuji provedený výzkum, který se skládal z přímého pozorování, dotazníkového šetření a rozhovoru. Oslovenými respondenty byli žáci třetí třídy základní školy v Ostravě a jejich vyučující.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the topic of Motivation in Primary English Language Teaching. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the pedagogical-psychological conception of motivation and other terms related to this issue, such as the terms need or reward. Subsequently, the attention is devoted to the English language itself, where I describe the individual factors influencing the child's motivation in teaching, which connects the individual passages of this work. These factors include, for example, the personality of the teacher and the pupil. The thesis tries to reveal how the motivation of pupils can be recognized and at the same time, it offers theoretical means of its achievement. The practical part which I describe in the research consisted of direct observation, questionnaire survey, and an interview. The respondents were pupils of the third grade of primary school in Ostrava and their teachers.
