Economic consequences of breaking / non-breaking environmental limits in the Northern Bohemia

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce analyzuje ekonomické dopady ne/prolomení ekologických limitů v Severočeské hnědouhelné pánvi. Cílem práce je ukázat na důvody rozhodnutí zavedení územních ekologických limitů v roce 1991 vládou Petra Pitharta a analýza důsledků budoucího politického rozhodnutí ať již ekologické limity budou či nebudou prolomeny. Především jde o porovnání důsledků v sociálních a ekonomických oblastech, v ekologii České republiky, v oblasti sociologické skladby obyvatel postižených oblastí těžbou a tím se pojící otázku zaměstnanosti a vzdělání. V bakalářské práci se zaměřuji v krátkosti na vznik a historii těžařství v severočeské hnědouhelné pánvi, na důvod uzákonění ekologických územních limitů a ekonomické dopady v případě jejich zachování nebo prolomení na obyvatele Severních Čech a ekonomiku České republiky. Ukvapená a neprozíravá politická rozhodnutí mají dlouhodobé následky pro celou společnost. I proto jsem se rozhodla pro toto téma při výběru mé bakalářské práce. Hlavní přínos práce spočívá ve SWOT analýze variant, která porovnává příležitosti a hrozby obou variant a následně vyvozuje poznatky těchto rozdílů. Ze seznamu literatury, která je uvedena v závěru samotné práce, jsem nejvíce využívala Rozvojovou studii specifické oblasti SOB5 Mostecko.

Abstract:

This Bachelor Thesis analyses the economic impacts of breaching / not breaching of the territorial environmental mining limits in the North Bohemian Brown Coal Basin. This thesis aims to show the grounds for the decision of the Petr Pithart´s Government in 1991to implement the territorial environmental mining limits and to analyse the consequences of the future political decision, whet her the limits willor will not be breached. Above all, it concentrates on the comparison of the consequences in various areas; in social and economic areas, in the ecology of the Czech Republic, in the field of the sociological composition of the population of the areas affected by the mining and the related issue of employment and education. The bachelor thesis focuses briefly on the origins and history of mining industry in the North Bohemian Brown Coal Basin, the reasons for enactment of the territorial environmental mining limits and the economic impacts on the population of North Bohemia and the Czech economy in case of their preservation or breach. Rash and imprudent political decision have long-term consequence for the whole society. That is why I opted for this topic when choosing my thesis. The main contribution of this thesis lies in the SWOT analysis comparing the opportunities and threats of both options and subsequently evaluating the findings of this comparison. The most beneficial for my work was the development study of the SOB5 Mostecko area, which I mention in the sources used.
