Eradicating of extreme poverty and hunger in the region of Eastern Africa: an analysis of the first goal of the Millennium Development Goals

Abstract:

Práce se zaměřuje na problematiku odstraňování extrémní chudoby a hladu ve vybraných státech východní Afriky. To je zároveň první z Rozvojových cílů tisíciletí zabývajících se nejpalčivějšími globálními problémy, které byly přijaty 189 státy světa v roce 2000. První část práce se zabývá představením těchto cílů jako celku, historií, která jim předcházela a samotným vznikem. Hlavní část této práce však tvoří druhá a třetí kapitola, jež se věnují již konkrétně prvnímu cíli. Chudoba a hlad, které se v této části kontinentu vyskytují, mají své příčiny. Ty jsou zde zmíněny stejně jako role mezinárodních či nevládních organizací. Rozvojové cíle tisíciletí jsou časově ohraničeny. Sledují období od roku 1990, a k jejich naplnění by u všech bodů mělo dojít v roce 2015. Analýza, na kolik se daří první cíl naplňovat, je popsána právě ve třetí kapitole společně s porovnáním výsledků jednotlivých zemí ve sledovaném časovém období mezi lety 1990 ? 2010. Na závěr jsou nastíněny vyhlídky a představeny některé konkrétní prostředky a řešení, které by mohly napomoci v dalším boji s jedním z největších globálních problémů lidstva ? chudobou.

Abstract:

The thesis is targeted on extreme poverty and hunger eradication in selected countries of The Eastern Africa. It is the first of Millenium Development Goals that are solving the uppermost global problems, which have been adopted by 189 countries in 2000. The thesis first part is dealing with overall introduction of these goals, their history and its formation. But the main part of this thesis formed by the second and the third chapter which are targeted specifically on first major goal. The poverty and hunger in this part of the world have its own causes. These causes are mentioned here as well as the roles of international or non-governmental organisations. The Millenium Development Goals have watched time period since 1990 and would be fulfilled in 2015. Analysis about fullfilment of first goal is described in third chapter together with comparison results of single countries and world regions in time period between 1990 ? 2010. In the end are outlined outlooks and presented concrete instruments and solutions which would help to fight against the most serious global problem ? poverty and hunger.
