Small open economy during the period of the economic recession: A non-linear DSGE model approach

Abstract:

V této diplomové práci se věnujeme modelu malé otevřené ekonomiky, která prochází hlubokou recesí a následným obdobím zotavení. Používáme dynamický stochastický model všeobecné rovnováhy aplikovaný na českou ekonomiku. Přístupem, který používáme je předpoklad, že parametry, obvykle uvažované jako strukturální a neměnné, se mohou změnit v případě události, která má vliv na ekonomiku. V této práci je za tuto událost považována recese v letech 2008-2009. V práci používáme metodu nelineární filtrace Unscented Particle Filter.

Abstract:

In this thesis we study a model of a small open economy in a period of a recession and subsequent recovery. The dynamic stochastic model of a general equilibrium applied on the Czech real economy is used as an example. Our approach includes relaxing the usual assumption about structural parameters and letting them to vary in time. We assume that some events may change the structural parameters, i.e. the structure of the economy. The global recession during 2008-2009 is considered as this kind of event. In the thesis we deal with non-linear filtration method - Unscented Particle Filter.
