Hedge accounting, its application and impact on the assessment of the financial position and business performance

Abstract:

Předmětem této diplomové práce „Zajišťovací účetnictví, jeho aplikace a vliv na hodnocení finanční pozice a výkonnosti podniku” je zhodnocení vlivu aplikace zajišťovacího účetnictví na sestavování finančních výkazů podniku a hodnotu základních indikátorů výkonnosti na základě úpravy v mezinárodních účetních standardech. První polovina práce se zabývá uvedením čtenáře do problematiky zajišťovacího účetnictví, vymezením pojmů nezbytných pro tuto práci dle mezinárodních účetních standardů IAS/IFRS a US GAAP a jejich vzájemné porovnání. Druhá polovina práce se pak věnuje zhodnocení dopadu aplikace zajišťovacího účetnictví na finanční vykazování a hodnocení finanční pozice podniku, přičemž nejdříve jsou poznatky shrnuty teoreticky, a následně pak aplikovány na modelový příklad. Porovnány jsou tři strategie řízení rizik: společnost používá k zajištění zajišťovací deriváty, deriváty neklasifikované jako zajišťovací a případně situace, kdy deriváty k zajištění neaplikuje.

Abstract:

The objective of this Master’s thesis „Hedge accounting, its application and impact on the assessment of the financial position and business performance” is to evaluate the impact of application of hedge accounting on financial reporting and basic performance indicators based on worldwide used accounting standards. The first half of the thesis deals with introducing the topic of hedge accounting to the reader, defining terms according to international standards IAS/IFRS and US GAAP and their mutual comparison. The second half is then directly focused on evaluating the impact of application of hedge accounting on financial statements and the business performance, where the findings are summed up first in theory and followed by model example. There are three basic risk management strategies discussed and mutually compared: using derivatives designated for hedging, application of non-hedging derivatives and non-application of any derivatives.
