Learning styles of low secondary and low-level grammar school pupils

Abstract:

Diplomová práce „Styly učení žáků na 2. stupni ZŠ a na nižším stupni gymnázií“ pojednává o aktuální problematice stylů učení z pohledu žáků a učitelů ve výše zmíněných institucích. Diplomová práce je tradičně rozdělena na část teoretickou a praktickou. V teoretické části jе pozornost věnována stylům učení z historického hlediska, dále jsou zde vymezeny klíčové pojmy či například hledány souvislosti mezi strategiemi učení a styly učení. V praktické části jsou prezentovány výsledky kvantitativně kvalitativního výzkumu realizovaného pomocí polostrukturovaného rozhovoru s učiteli a dotazníků, jejichž respondenty jsou nejen učitelé, ale především samotní žáci. Nedílnou součást této práce tvoří i kapitola týkající se využití výsledků našeho výzkumu pro pedagogickou teorii a praxi. Cílem diplomové práce je diagnostikovat rozložení preferovaných stylů učení v jednotlivých třídách, zjistit, zda si žáci a učitelé uvědomují a dokážou správně odhadnout svůj preferovaný styl učení a zda si učitelé jsou vědomi stylů učení svých žáků a snaží se je určitým způsobem rozvíjet.

Abstract:

Diploma thesis “Learning styles of lower secondary and low-level grammar school pupils” deals with the current topic of learning styles from learners’ and teachers’ points of view. The thesis is traditionally divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part consists of discussion of learning styles from historical point of view, basic concepts as well as it finds connections between learning styles and strategies. In practical part, there are presented results of our research, which is carried out through a semi-structured interview as well as questionnaires, the respondents of which are not only teachers but mainly pupils of above mentioned institutions. The important part of our diploma thesis is also a chapter dealing with applying the results of the research into pedagogical theory and practice. The aim of our thesis is to identify students’ learning style preferences, to find out whether the learners and the teachers are aware of their preferred learning styles and whether or not the teachers are aware of their students’ learning styles and try to develop them in a particular way.
