Religiosity and identity formation: analysis of the adolescents experience

Abstract:

Diplomová práce s názvem Religiozita a utváření identity: analýza zkušenosti adolescentů se zaměřuje na analýzu prožívání adolescentů ve vztahu k náboženské identitě, konkrétně identitě římskokatolického křesťana. V teoretické části práce je představeno období adolescence, dále koncept identity z pohledu psychologických a sociologických teorií a v neposlední řadě náboženská identita, její utváření a pohled na identitu člověka z perspektivy učení římskokatolické církve. Empirická část práce nabízí vhled do prožívání adolescentů v souvislosti s tématem náboženské identity. Data získána formou polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s adolescenty jsou analyzována metodou interpretativní fenomenologické analýzy. Výsledkem výzkumu je interpretace zkušenosti jednotlivých adolescentů s utvářením a prožíváním jejich náboženské identity, rozdělené do čtyř hlavních témat, která vzešla z analýzy dat.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis called Religiosity and identity formation: analysis of the adolescents experience is focused on analysing adolescents’ experiencing in the relationship to the religious identity, accurately to the identity of Roman-Catholic Christians. In the theoretical part of the thesis there is introduced the adolescent period and then a concept of identity form views of psychological and sociological theories. The last chapter is devoted to the topic of the religious identity, its forming, and offers a view on the human identity from the perspective of Roman-Catholic Church teaching. The empirical part of the thesis gives insight to experience of adolescents in connection with the topic of the religious identity. Data gained through the form of half-structured interviews with adolescents are analysed by the method of the interpretative phenomenological analysis. The outcome of this research work is the interpretation of experience of individual adolescents with forming and experiencing their religious identity. The interpretation is divided into four main themes, which came out of the analysis.
