The Internment of Japanese Americans in American Historical Writing

Abstract:

During World War 2 approximately 120 000 people of Japanese origin were forced to relocate in the USA. At first, the relocation was only aimed at the only at the Issei, the first generation of Japanese immigrants, but however, Nisei, the second generation of Japanese immigrants, that had American citizenship, and some who were loyal to the USA faced the interment too, with their numbers reaching around 80 000. In my paper, I would like to prove that the internment was a product of long-term racism against the Asian population, what lead to the decision of the internment with a focus on significant historical events that played a part and showcase how the Japanese Americans managed to get the worst of it.

Během druhé světové války okolo 120 000 osob s Japonskými kořeny bylo nuceno opustit své domovy v USA. Z počátku byla relokace mířena pouze na Issei, první generaci Japonských imigrantů, ale Nisei druhá generace Japonských imigrantů, kteří měli Americké občanství a někteří z nich byli loajální USA byli téže nuceni k přemístění s jejich čísly pohybujícími se okolo 80 000. V této práci bych chtěl dokázat, že internace byla produktem dlouho trvajícího rasismu proti Asijské populaci, co vedlo k rozhodnutí pro internaci s důrazem na důležité historické události, které byly jedny z faktorů a poukázat na to, jak Japonští Američané během války čelili diskriminaci.
