Occupational therapy in a child with disturbed communication and autism spectrum in preschool age

Abstract:

ÚVOD Tato bakalářská práce na téma "Ergoterapie u dítěte s narušenou komunikační schopností a poruchou autistického spektra v předškolním věku" se zaměřuje na kazuistiku vybraného chlapce. Dle anamnézy byly v odborné literatuře vyhledány informace týkající se diagnózy. METODIKA V první části se bakalářská práce zabývá rešeršemi a teoretickými poznatky o poruchách autistického spektra, primárních reflexech, komunikačních schopnostech a ergoterapii v pediatrii. Ve druhé části se zabývá kazuistikou vybraného dětského klienta s poruchou komunikační schopnosti a poruchou autistického spektra. K vyhodnocení stavu dětského klienta byl vybrán standardizovaný test Short sensory profile a dva pomocné testy (Edukačně hodnotící profil a vyšetření primárních reflexů). Dále bakalářská práce zahrnuje krátkodobý ergoterapeutický plán, intervenci s dětským klientem, dlouhodobý ergoterapeutický plán a porovnání výsledků. První dvě terapie byly prováděny doma u vybraného klienta a zbylé terapie byly prováděny v psychomotorické tělocvičně, na Fakultě zdravotnických studií v Ústí nad Labem. VÝSLEDKY Ergoterapeutická intervence pomohla ke zlepšení hrubé a jemné motoriky, sebeobsluhy a vnímání vlastního těla, což bylo mimo jiné prokázáno testem Short sensory profile. ZÁVĚR Díky psaní této bakalářské práce se mi dostalo dalšího povědomí o poruchách autistického spektra, o ergoterapii v pediatrii, nabyla jsem zkušenosti v rámci intervence a spolupráce s dětským klientem.

Abstract:

INTRODUCTION This bachelor thesis on "Occupational therapy in a child with impaired communication skills and autism spectrum disorders in preschool age" focuses on a case study of a selected boy. According to the medical history, the literature was searched for information regarding the diagnosis. METHODS In the first part, the bachelor thesis deals with research and theoretical knowledge about autism spectrum disorders, primary reflexes, communication skills and occupational therapy in pediatrics. The second part deals with a case study of a selected pediatric client with communication disorder and autism spectrum disorders. The standardized Short Sensory Profile test and two ancillary tests (Educational Assessment Profile and Primary Reflexes Examination) were selected to evaluate the pediatric client's condition. Furthermore, the bachelor thesis includes a short-term occupational therapy plan, an intervention with the child client, and a long-term occupational therapy plan comparing the results. The first two therapies were conducted at home with the selected client and the remaining therapies were conducted in the psychomotor gym, at the Faculty of Health Studies in Ústí nad Labem. RESULTS The occupational therapy intervention helped to improve gross and fine motor skills, self-care and perception of one's own body, which was demonstrated, among other things, by the Short Sensory Profile test. CONCLUSION Through the writing of this bachelor thesis, I have gained further awareness of autism spectrum disorders, occupational therapy in pediatrics, and gained experience in intervention and collaboration with pediatric clients.
