The Hospice and Palliative Care in the Life of the Incurably Ill

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce obrací pozornost k tématu paliativní a hospicová péče, která je chápána jako účinná pomoc nevyléčitelně nemocným a umírajícím pacientům i jejich rodinám. Zabývá se prožíváním nevyléčitelně nemocných, procesem umírání a v neposlední řadě i různými formami, obsahem a posláním paliativní péče. Záměrem empirické části práce je ověřit, zda se paliativní péče skutečně podílí na zvýšení kvality života konkrétních hospicových pacientů tak, jak její zastánci deklarují. Práce se opírá o studium odborné literatury, některé internetové zdroje i vlastní zkušenosti v oboru.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis draws attention to the topic of palliative and hospice care which is understood as an effective help to incurably ill and dying patients and their families as well. It deals with the emotional experience of the incurably ill, with the process of dying and, last but not least, with various forms of palliative care, its contents and objectives. The purpose of the empiric part of the thesis is to prove whether palliative care really contributes to a higher quality of life of factual hospice patients as declared by its supporters. The thesis is based on special literature studies, some internet sources and the author’s own experience in this field of activity.
