Cílem diplomové práce je analyzovat projekt Evropské hlavní město kultury a program Plzně - Evropského hlavního města kultury 2015. První část práce je zaměřena na popis vývoje projektu Evropské hlavní město kultury od jeho počátků do současnosti. Kladen důraz je na dvě hlavní kritéria - Evropská dimenze a Město a občané. The aim of the diploma thesis is to analyze the project European Capital of Culture and the program of Pilsen European Capital of Culture 2015. The first part focuses on the project European Capital of Culture. The thesis describes the development of the project from its beginning until today.
