Self-sufficiency of seniors in social institutions

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem diplomové práce bylo posoudit úroveň soběstačnosti a případnou závislost v běžně denních aktivitách života seniorů žijících v sociálních zařízeních. Posoudit stav soběstačnosti v jednotlivých zařízeních. Metodika: Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 95 seniorů, žijících v sociálních zařízeních, Domov odpočinku ve stáří 32 respondentů, Dům s pečovatelskou službou Třída Hrdinů 27 respondentů a Dům s pečovatelskou službou Lidická 36 respondentů. Dotazníkové šetření bylo prováděno v období: duben ? srpen 2011, byly použity standardizované měřící nástroje Barthelův test základních všedních činností (ADL) a Test instrumentálních všedních činností (IADL). Výsledky: Z výsledků výzkumu je zjevné, že mezi faktory, které neovlivňují soběstačnost seniorů žijících v sociálních zařízeních patří délka pobytu a vzdělání respondentů. Opakem jsou faktory, které ovlivňují soběstačnost seniorů, mezi ně patří věk a pohlaví respondentů. Z výzkumu, také vyplývá, že existuje závislost mezi ADL a IADL testem. Nejvíce jsou senioři závislí v instrumentálních denních činnostech než v základních denních činnostech. Závěr: Problematika soběstačnosti, je v dnešní době aktuální, protože dochází k nárůstu počtu seniorů v České republice. Soběstačnost patří mezi základní lidské potřeby. Kdyby člověk nebyl soběstačný, nemohl by se sám o sebe postarat. Senioři mohou vnímat sníženou soběstačnost velmi negativně, protože jsou často odkázáni na pomoc druhých osob.

Abstract:

Objective: The aim of this thesis was to assess the level of independence and dependence potential in everyday life activities of elderly people living in social institutions. Assess the statuts of self-sufficiency in individual facilities. Methods: The research group consisted of 95 seniors living in social welfare institutions, Rest home in old age 32 respondents, Nursing home class heroes 27 respondents and Nursing home Lidická 36 respondents. The questionnaire survey was conducted during the period: April to August 2011 were used standardized measuring instruments Barthelův test of basic activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living test (IADL). Result: The research is clear that among the factors that affect self-sufficiency of seniors living in social institutions include length of stay and education of respondents. The opposite are the factors that affect seniors and self.sufficiency, these include age and sex of respondents. The research also shows that there is a correlation between the ADL and IADL test. Most seniors are dependent in isntrumental activities of daily than in basic daily activities. Consclusion: The issue of self-sufficiency today is obsolete since there is an increase in the number of seniors in the Czech Republic. Self-sufficiency is a basic human need. If one is not self-sufficient, he could not take care of itself. Seniors may feel less self-sufficiency very negatively because they are often dependent on the assistance of others.
