Czech Equivalents of English Gerund in Fiction
Abstract:
The bachelor thesis focuses on the occurrence of the English gerund in relation to its syntactic functions within fictional literature and the great deal of the present paper is also concerned with the possible Czech translation equivalents. The present paper is corpus-based, there are selected texts of the English written prose analyzed and compared with their Czech translations.
Abstract:
Tato bakalářská práce se soustředí na výskyt anglického gerundia s ohledem na jeho syntaktické funkce ve fiktivní literatuře a část práce se také zaměřuje na možné české překladové ekvivalenty anglického gerundia. Celá práce je pojata jako korpusová studie. V práci jsou analyzovány vybrané texty anglicky psané prózy, které jsou následně porovnány se svými českými překlady.
