Analysis and design of Business Intelligence solution for travel agency Mayer & Crocus

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem této bakalářské práce je vypracovat komplexní analýzu podnikového řízení cestovní kanceláře Mayer & Crocus a na jejím základě navrhnout Business Intelligence řešení pro tuto společnost. Byly stanoveny dva cíle dílčí sloužící pro splnění cíle hlavního. Prvním dílčím cílem je charakterizovat trh cestovních kanceláří v České republice. Druhým dílčím cílem je analyzovat obecné a specifické oblasti řízení a k nim definovat příhodné komponenty jako jsou úlohy řízení, role a dokumenty. Stanovených cílů bylo dosaženo díky konzultacím s vlastníky a řediteli cestovních kanceláří. K zpracování teoretických částí práce bylo potřeba provést rešerši knižních publikací a odborných článků, které se zabývají tímto tématem. Výstupem z této práce je analýza všech oblastí řízení cestovní kanceláře a návrh Business Intelligence řešení. Analýza řízení je rozdělena na dvě části. První část analýzy se zabývá oblastmi řízení, které jsou společné pro všechny obchodní společnosti napříč odvětvími. Pro tyto obecné oblasti jsou popsány aspekty specifické pro cestovní kancelář. Druhá část analýzy definuje oblasti řízení, které jsou aplikovatelné pouze na podnikání cestovních kanceláří. Na základě analýzy oblastí řízení byly určeny klíčové ukazatele výkonnosti, vzorový model datového skladu a dva vzorové reporty pro řízení prodeje zájezdů.

Abstract:

The main goal of this bachelor thesis is to create a comprehensive analysis of the business management system of the travel agency Mayer & Crocus, and suggest the right form of Business Intelligence solution based on the findings. Two partial goals were set in order to fulfil the main one. The first partial goal is to characterise the travel agency market in the Czech Republic. The other partial goal is to analyse general and specific management areas, and to define suitable components for them such as tasks, roles, and documents. The goals were fulfilled thanks to consultations with owners and CEOs of travel agencies. In order to manage the theoretical parts of the thesis, it was necessary to conduct a literature review. The outcome of this thesis is the analysis of all management areas and the proposal of a Business Intelligence solution. The analysis is divided into two parts. The first part of the analysis deals with areas of management that are common to all companies across industries. The second part defines the areas of management that are specific only to travel agencies. Based on the analysis of those management areas, key performance indicators, a model of data warehouse, and two sample reports for tour sales management were designed.
