COVID-19 and its impact on Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise in a selected sector

Abstract:

V souvislosti s pandemií SARS-COV2 (Covid 19) se v období roku 2020 a části roku 2021 vzhledem k přijatým opatřením vládou České republiky téměř zastavila ekonomika. Tento jev měl dopad na mnoho odvětví a podniků, a ne každý subjekt se s touto krizí dokázal vypořádat. Tato diplomová práce řeší dopady výše zmíněné pandemie na odvětví cestovního ruchu a subjekty v něm působící, a zkoumá, zda je možné identifikovat dopady pandemie jako hrozbu pro podnikatelské prostředí v oblasti cestovního ruchu, a zároveň, zda bude možné nastavit post pandemické strategie tak, aby bylo možné činnosti podniků v cestovním ruchu rychle a úspěšně nastartovat. Metodologie práce je založena na teoretické části, kde budou vysvětleny základní pojmy a statistiky cestovního ruchu a pojmy malých a středních podniků. Druhá část práce, bude zaměřená na praktickou analýzu dopadů pandemie na cestovní ruch a na vybraný podnik, a bude také proveden benchmark, tak aby bylo možné situace vzájemně porovnávat. Výstupem práce bude vyhodnocení hypotéz a návrh na možné opatření, které by vedlo k úspěšnému oživení podnikatelských činností vybraného podniku.

Abstract:

In connection with the SARS-COV2 pandemic (Covid 19), the economy almost stopped in the period of 2020 and part of 2021, due to the measures taken by the Government of the Czech Republic. This phenomenon has had an impact on many sectors and businesses, and not every company has been able to cope with the crisis. This work addresses the impacts of the above-mentioned pandemic on the tourism industry and its actors and examines whether it is possible to identify the impacts of a pandemic as a threat to the tourism business environment, and whether if it will be possible to set up a post-pandemic strategy so that the activities of tourism enterprises can be started quickly and successfully. The methodology of the work is based on the theoretical part, where the basic concepts and statistics of tourism and the concepts of small and medium enterprises will be explained. The second part of the work will focus on the practical analysis of the effects of the pandemic on tourism and on the selected company and a benchmark will also be performed so that a situation comparison can be shown. The output of the work will be the evaluation of hypotheses and a proposal for possible measures that would lead to a successful revival of business activities of the chosen company.
