Abstract:

Stres a zvládání zátěže (coping) patří v současné psychologii k vůbec nevíce studovaným fenoménům. Jen nemnoho psychologických témat nachází podobný ohlas v rámci odborné komunity i mezi i širší veřejností a také napříč různými psychologickými obory a školami. Tento stav se však neodráží jen v rostoucím objemu poznatků, ale i v jisté roztříštěnosti přístupů a v obtížích při interpretaci výzkumných zjištění. Oba fenomény proto představují zároveň výzvu pro utváření takových teoretických rámců, které by umožnily jejich adekvátní reflexi jako dynamických, komplexních a mnohovrstevnatých. Cílem této práce je podat kritický přehled východisek, historicky významných přístupů i současného vývoje těch psychologických koncepcí, které se na takové reflexi podílely buď specifickými tématickými příspěvky, nebo důrazem na integraci poznatků z oblastí tradičně spíše samostatných nebo izolovaných. Teoretická část seznamuje s původně fyziologickým pojetím stresu jako reakce organismu (response), s koncepcí životních událostí a vývojem sociologického pojetí zatížení a zdrojů a s originálním psychologickým pojetím stresu jako transakce mezi osobou a prostředím, jejíž povaha je spoluurčována kognitivním hodnocením a zvládáním. S ohledem ke zvládání přináší stručný přehled specifických dílčích koncepcí (hardiness, sense of coherence) a zevrubněji pojednává o vývoji transakčního pojetí, relevantních psychodynamických koncepcí a současných koncepcí zvládání, kontroly a regulace na rovině jednání i na rovině intrapsychické (teorie interakce osobnostních systémů). Cílem empirické části je na příkladech tří autorských výzkumných studií demonstrovat přednosti i limity různých koncepcí i konkrétních výzkumných postupů. První studie tak činí prostřednictvím porovnání výsledků dvou dotazníkových metod, odlišných zaměřením (strategie zvládání a osobnostní styly) i teoretickými a metodologickými východisky. Zabývá se vztahem preference určitých strategií zvládání a vztahem osobnostních stylů k subjektivně pociťovaným somatickým a neurotickým obtížím jako tradičnímu indikátoru stresu. Zahrnuje i analýzu vzájemného vztahu konstruktů identifikovaných oběma metodami a poukazuje na nevýhody, které vyplývají z příliš úzkého pojetí strategií zvládání. Druhá studie seznamuje s průběhem vytváření dotazníkové formy výzkumného nástroje pro posuzování vývoje způsobů zvládání v období adolescence. Poukazuje na proměny vztahu jednotlivých způsobů zvládání k pociťovaným problémům v různých životních doménách (vztahy k rodině a s dospělými, vztahy s vrstevníky a otázky identity), podrobně se ale věnuje především otázce adekvátních principů klasifikace způsobů zvládání a možnostmi a limity různých statistických postupů (explorační faktorová analýza, strukturální modelování) při identifikaci základních způsobů zvládání. Třetí studie se zabývá zvládáním mimořádné zátěže, jakou představují povodně pro obyvatele zasažených domácností. Cíl této studie byl i praktický – poskytnout pomáhajícím podrobné informace o povaze potřeb zasažených, o zvláštnostech prožívání, zpětnou vazbu o efektivitě jejich pomoci a podněty pro rozvíjení u nás dosud nepříliš rozšířených forem pomoci (dlouhodobé provázení, psychosociální pomoc, komunitní spolupráce). Představuje typ výzkumu, na nějž jsou kladeny vysoké nároky po stránce ekologické validity i po stránce etické. Abstract:

Stress and coping belong to the most frequently studied phenomena in current psychology. There are not many psychological issues that incite a similar response among the experts in the field across many psychological approaches and schools as well as among the wider public. This is not only reflected in the amount of knowledge but also in a certain fragmentation of approaches and difficult interpretation of research findings. Therefore both phenomena present a challenge in building theoretical frameworks that would enable an appropriate reflection of their dynamic, complex and multilayer character. The aim of the thesis is to provide a critical overview of the grounds, important approaches and current development of those psychological conceptions that contributed to the reflection of stress and coping either by dealing with specific issues or by integrating knowledge from the fields that were traditionally seen as independent or isolated. The theoretical part presents the overview of influential approaches to stress, such as original conception of stress as a response of the organism, the conception of life events and the development of a sociological concept of strain and sources as well as the psychological transactional approach that emphasizes transactions between the person and the environment as widely influenced by cognitive appraisal and coping. As far as coping is concerned, the work discusses a number of specific conceptions such as hardiness and a sense of coherence but focuses primarily on the development of complex transactional approach, relevant psychodynamic conceptions and current approaches to coping such as control and regulation on the level of acting and behaviour and on the intrapsychic level (interactions of personality systems). The aim of the empirical part is to demonstrate the advantages and limits of different approaches and specific research procedures while presenting three research studies. The first study compares the results of two questionnaire surveys, that had a different focus (coping and personality styles) as well as different theoretical and methodological underpinning. It deals with the relationship of the preference of certain coping strategies and different personality styles to subjectively perceived psychosomatic and neurotic difficulties as traditional indicators of stress. It also includes an analysis of the relationship of the constructs identified by both methods and shows the disadvantages rooted in a too narrow conception of coping strategies. The second study presents the procedure of designing a research instrument (questionnaire) that is aimed at assessing the development of ways of coping in the period of adolescence. It illustrates the changes of the relationship of particular ways of coping and perceived problems in different life domains (family relations, relations with peers, identity issues), while focusing on the issues of appropriate princples of classification of ways of coping and the possibilities and limits of different statistic procedures (exploratory factor analysis, structural equation modelling) in the identification of the basic ways of coping. The third study discusses coping with extraordinatory strain experienced by inhabitants of flood-stricken households. The aims included practical aspects, namely offering detailed and specific information concerning the character of needs and specific features of the experience of floods to help providers as well as giving them feedback about the effectiveness of their help and further impulses for the development of forms of help that were not very common in our country (psychosocial care, community collaboration). Such type of research that has to cope with high demands concerning ecological validity and research ethic.
