Cieľom bakalárskej práce je zhrnúť informácie o fungovaní centrálnych bánk a porovnať tieto informácie s postavením Európskej centrálnej banky a Národnej banky Slovenska pred a po prijatí eura. Ťažisko práce spočíva na úlohe NBS po prijatí eura a väčšina práce pokrýva súčasné činnosti NBS, jej postavenie po prijatí eura a perspektívy NBS v Európskom systéme centrálnych bánk.
