Watchdog activities in the fight against corruption in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Tato práce je zaměřena na některé formy boje proti korupci. Důraz je kladen na existenci a možnosti nevládních neziskových organizací a iniciativ v ČR, jejichž aktivity jsou nedílnou součástí protikorupčního snažení. Proto cílem této práce je popsat watchdogové organizace a iniciativy působící v ČR a to se zaměřením na oblast korupce. Dílčím cílem práce je vysvětlit pojem watchdog ve spojitosti s neziskovými organizacemi, které bojují proti korupci. Práce je rozdělena do tří kapitol. První kapitola práce se zabývá činností NNO a jejich funkcemi ve společnosti. Druhá část kapitoly se věnuje pojmu watchdog v oblasti korupce. Druhá kapitola shrnuje teoretické poznatky o korupci a mapuje problémové oblasti korupce a její stav v ČR. Závěrečná kapitola se věnuje hlavnímu cíli práce, tedy analýze konkrétních watchdogových organizací a iniciativ působících v ČR a zabývá se otázkou jejich financování, oblastmi, do kterých zaměřují svojí činnost, rozsahem jejich projektů či jejich způsobem prezentace.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with some forms of fights against the corruption. The importance is placed on the existence and possibilities of non-governmental organizations and initiatives in the Czech Republic whose activities create the essential part of anti-corruption efforts. Therefore, the aim of the thesis is to describe watchdog organizations and initiatives operating in the Czech Republic with the focus on the corruption topic. Moreover, a watchdog term is explained in the thesis in connection with non-profit organizations which are also engaged into the anti-corruption fight. The thesis itself is divided into three chapters. In the first chapter activities of the NGOs, their functions in the society and the watchdog term in the field of corruption are explained. The second chapter summarizes theoretical knowledge concerning the corruption and explores problematic areas of the corruption and its state in the Czech Republic. The final chapter is focused on the main topic of the thesis - it means concrete watchdog organizations analysis and initiatives in the Czech Republic. This chapter deals with the issue of funding, areas in which focus its activities, the scope of their projects or their way of presentation.
