How parents go through child illness

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá prožíváním nemoci dítěte rodičem. Teoretická část práce je zaměřena na nemoc, časové rozměry nemoci, vnímání příznaků, autoplastický obraz nemoci a také na etapy procesu boje s nemocí. Dále jsou v teoretické části popsána vývojová stádia dítěte od narození po dosažení dospělosti. V empirické části této práce je prezentován výzkum, jehož cílem bylo zjistit, zda rodiče prožívají intenzivněji svou vlastní nemoc, nebo nemoc svého dítěte, zda existuje rozdíl v prožívání nemoci dítěte mezi matkami a otci, či zda rodiče prožívají odlišně nemoc syna a dcery. Pro výzkum této problematiky byl použit dotazník vytvořený autorem této práce. V rámci výzkumu bylo zjištěno, že matky vnímají samy sebe jako schopnější v péči o své nemocné dítě. Dále jsme zjistili, že rodiče prožívají nemoc svého dítěte nezávisle na jeho pohlaví. Mezi matkami a otci existuje významný rozdíl ve druhu prožívaných emocí při nemoci dítěte.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis looks into the issues of how parents go through child illness. The theoretical part is focused on illness, time dimensions of illness, perception of symptoms, autoplastic picture of dissease and on phases of the fight against disease. Furthermore, the theoretical part describes the developmental stages of children from birth to adolescence. The empirical part presents the results of the research. The aim of the research was to discover if parents experience more intensely their own illness or the illness of their child, if there is a difference how mothers or fathers go through child illness, or if parents experience the illness differently at son or daughter. To research this issue was used a questionnaire designed by the author of this work. The survey found that mothers perceive themselves as more able of taking care of their sick child. We also found that parents experience their child's illness, regardless of the sex of the child. Between mothers and fathers there is a significant difference in the kind of experienced emotions in illness of a child.
