Places of Remembrance? The Underground Factory "Richard" and The Concentration Camp Leitmeritz

Abstract:

The theme of this work is culture of remembrance in the connection with the former concentration camp in Litoměřice. In the first chapter, there are defined the conceptions culture of remembrance; individual, collective, communicative and cultural memory and memory of places. The second chapter is devoted the genocide as the phenomenon of the 20th century, which is needed to be reminded and the conception, which is necessary to know. In the third part is described the history of the underground factory Richard and the concentration camp in Litoměřice. Then follow the fates of both places from the end of the World War II till nowadays and description of state those places in the present. The work is completed of many contemporary and actually photographs.

Abstract:

Tématem práce je kultura vzpomínání v souvislosti s bývalým koncentračním táborem v Litoměřicích. V první kapitole jsou vymezeny pojmy kultura vzpomínání; individuální, kolektivní, komunikativní a kulturní paměť a paměť míst. Druhá kapitola je věnována genocidě jako fenoménu 20. století, který je třeba připomínat a jako pojem, který je nutné znát. Ve třetí části je popsána historie podzemní továrny Richard a koncentračního tábora v Litoměřicích. Následují osudy obou míst od konce druhé světové války dodnes a popsání stavu míst v současné době. Práce je doplněna o řadu dobových a aktuálních fotografií.
